To earn Master Elite, a contractor must maintain a strong reputation, carry valid insurance, and complete ongoing GAF training. The status is held by approximately the top 2% of North American roofers and is the only tier that unlocks GAF's Golden Pledge warranty — an extended non-prorated period on materials, workmanship coverage that includes labor during the workmanship period, backed directly by GAF rather than the contractor. The Golden Pledge has three composition requirements that must be met together: installation by a GAF Master Elite–certified contractor; use of GAF Lifetime Shingles (not the broader GAF shingle lineup); and a qualifying package of GAF accessory products spanning ridge cap shingles, starter strip shingles, roof deck protection (underlayment), leak barrier (ice and water shield), and attic ventilation.
