Language Capabilities pillar — English/Spanish communication, Claimed upgradeable to V

The Language Capabilities pillar captures which languages a contractor can communicate in with homeowners — typically English, Spanish, or both. Contractors claim their supported languages at signup, and Vfane upgrades the pillar from Claimed to Verified (V badge) once homeowner reviews confirm the capability in practice.

In the Houston market, a meaningful share of homeowners prefer to communicate in Spanish for a project as involved as a roof replacement. The Language Capabilities pillar captures which languages a contractor offers — most commonly English, Spanish, or both — so homeowners who want to communicate in Spanish can filter for it during their search. This pillar is one of two designed to upgrade from Claimed to Verified (V badge) over time; the other is Response Commitment. The Claimed badge is applied when the contractor makes the commitment at signup. The V badge applies once homeowner reviews and platform interaction data confirm the contractor actually communicates effectively in the claimed language — rather than, for example, relying entirely on a single bilingual staffer who may not be available on every call. The distinction matters because roofing decisions involve specific terminology (warranties, material grades, permit processes) that benefits from fluent, not just functional, language capability. Homeowners often weight this pillar high when communication comfort is a priority and lower when they're comfortable in either language.
