TAMKO residential shingle lines — Heritage (flagship), StormFighter FLEX (Class 4, formerly StormFighter IR)

TAMKO's residential line runs Heritage (the flagship architectural — a value-tier line with strong Texas distribution, limited-lifetime material, and an extended HeritageShield non-prorated "Full Start" warranty option; NOT Class 4) and StormFighter FLEX (the polymer-modified impact line, formerly branded StormFighter IR — it comes as FLEX 3 / UL 2218 Class 3 and FLEX 4 / UL 2218 Class 4, so FLEX 4 is the Class 4 SKU; built on the Titan XT platform, WindGUARD warranty to 160 mph with TAMKO starter + hip/ridge, and a poly-fabric backside reinforcement that widens the nailing zone). Class 4 may qualify for a Texas insurance discount; the extended warranty runs through MasterCraft Pro certification.

TAMKO, a regional volume player with strong Houston-market distribution at the value tier, runs a simpler two-line structure. The flagship is Heritage — a limited-lifetime architectural shingle; its distinctive warranty feature is the HeritageShield Limited Warranty (available via MasterCraft Pro Certified installation), which extends the non-prorated "Full Start" period well beyond the industry-typical window. Heritage is NOT impact-rated. For hail, the impact-rated line is StormFighter FLEX (the polymer-modified impact line, formerly branded StormFighter IR): it comes in two grades — StormFighter FLEX 3 (UL 2218 Class 3) and StormFighter FLEX 4 (UL 2218 Class 4) — so the FLEX 4 SKU is the Class 4 option. It is built on the Titan XT platform (itself Class 3) with polymer modification and a proprietary poly-fabric reinforcement across the backside that substantially expands the nailing zone relative to Heritage, and it carries a WindGUARD Limited Warranty rated to 160 mph wind when installed with TAMKO starter and TAMKO hip-and-ridge. Class 4 is the rating that may qualify a Texas home for an insurance impact discount (confirm with your agent; cross-reference D1-002). The extended warranty runs through MasterCraft Pro Certified contractors (cross-reference D9-004). What to ask on a TAMKO quote: Heritage or StormFighter FLEX — only StormFighter FLEX (the FLEX 4 SKU) is Class 4 — and the contractor's MasterCraft Pro status if the extended Full Start warranty matters. Cross-reference D1-009 for the general comparison framework.
